The Committee's areas of competence are: the national economy, finance, insurance, agriculture and transport, preparation of relevant legislative and budgetary proposals, information dissemination and ratification of relevant international treaties. |
| Membership |
The Committee is composed of 12 members, elected for two years. The parties are represented proportionally according to the total number of senators. |
| Working methods |
The Committee discusses drafts of international treaties. The Committee is empowered to organize hearings and seminars and invite representatives of the Executive to be heard. Sessions are generally open to the public but closed sessions may be held where necessary.
Missions abroad may be prepared in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and business representatives.

Government members are invited to every Committee session. Civil society representatives are entitled by law to attend any Committee session or any plenary. |

The Committee deals with every piece of new legislation and new changes to the Committee's activities.
Public hearings and debates: bankruptcy legislation - bankruptcy proceedings; public tenders; sugar quotas, Czech export to the USA.
